Entry for April 05, 2009-- Yes, I'm back ... with a wonderful bargain wine!
Hello readers and wine lovers out there who have patiently checked my blog each day. What can I say but sorry. I have had a difficult time returning to the daily routine of blogging, updating my website and writing about wine. That's not to say I haven't been tasting (and drinking) some very interesting and also, not so interesting wines. I will be working on a newsletter for those of you who subscribe and will try to give an update of some of the wines from these past few months.
For now, I must tell you about a fabulous bargain that I came across. It's the
Domaine La Montagnette Cotes du Rhone Villages 2007. Coming from the more specific Villages designation I am very surprised this wine only cost about $11.00. A Rhone blend of Cinsault, Mourvedre (Monastrell), Syrah and Grenache (I don't know the percentages of any of the grapes) this wine was intensely aromatic with flowers and fruit just erupting from the glass. Once I tasted it, the spiciness of the Syrah was evident and created an incredible balance with the intense fruitiness. I really couldn't get enough of this wine and still can smell the aromas in my empty glass as I write this. I will be looking for this wine again and know that Astor Wine and Spirits in the city has it for $12.99. A true bargain for a wine this nice and easy to drink.
Cheers,
The Wining Woman
