Happy New Year!
I have to say that so far so good. After a fabulous birthday celebration the party did continue. New Years Eve was spent with family and friends and was a lot of fun. Since it was so cold outside none of us wanted to go anywhere so we are lucky that there's a way to get to one of the restaurant/bars in my building without having to go outside. And, we know the owner so we were treated all night to Champagne and drinks.
My birthday celebration was extended with an overnight dinner cruise this past Saturday night. What fun that was. We boarded the
Norwegian Gem at the NY Port around 1PM. Greeted with a glass of champagne we wandered the ship and enjoyed a nice lunch before sailing away. I knew that a friend of mine was on board as the ship's Sommelier and since he knew we were there, a bottle of Zardetto Prosecco was in our cabin for us. Later on we had a wonderful meal at the French bistro with a bottle of
Chapoutier Belleruche Cotes du Rhone 2006 that was delicious with the beef and mushroom dish we were having. Edmund, the Sommelier told me that if he hadn't sent me a bottle of bubbly he would have chosen that same wine. I think he knows me well. The ship sailed on, we partied on and the next morning were back in the NY Port again. It was not easy to leave the ship but we have a week long cruise planned for February. Aaahh..
Lastnight I met some wine friends for drinks. I'll write about that in the next entry.
Cheers,
