It might have been because I spent 2 full days talking about and tasting 50 different French wines but, today at lunch I popped open a bottle of
Patrick Miolane 2005 Saint-Aubin - Burgundy, France. This was a fabulous golden delicious (not the apple) Chardonnay that was fresh and crisp with light fruit aromas. It had some good spice on the palate that lasted from start to finish. I have always loved white Burgundy but haven't had one for quite some time. Most of the Chardonnay has been from the U.S. or Australia and either overly oaked or with no real elegance. I am happy that this wine had all the nuances and special qualities that I have learned to enjoy from Burgundy. I am sorry I only had the onebottle. Cost is about $25.
Cheers,
