Entry for October 24, 2008-Wall Street Woes Wiped Away with Wine
photo

It is now the weekend and it is ending with the market sliding again. After a week of rocking and rolling the Dow Jones is down another 300 points today. I have stopped looking at my bank statements and just hoping that things will sooner than later turn around. What I can't understand is how this is happening and yet the dollar is stronger than it has been in a very long time and oil prices have dropped to under $65 barrel. How is this possible? It really is crazy.
But, in the midst of all this, I only wish I had been able to get a wine cellar going. I have my 180 bottle and 50 bottle wine refrigerator in my apartment but, that just isn't good enough for holding on to wine for investment as many savvy wealthy people have done. Even with the stock market in crisis, there are those that continue to put their money into luxury items like wine. Not only is it more tangible than a piece of paper telling them they own something but, it is somewhat romantic. The Wine Exchange of London is showing a 40% increase in their numbers lately. That says something. Even if there is a chance for a tainted bottle here and there the only person who will ever know is the one who eventually decides to drink it. Until then, wine is a wonderful asset. Yet another way for wine to enhance your life.
Cheers,
