Stomping grapes with your feet can be deadly-, at-least in France. Although it's hard to imagine, 2 men who were helping their friend crush grapes for his homemade wine died while doing just that. The crushing initiated fermentation and so, carbon dioxide, one of the by products of this process built up. There must not have been sufficient ventilation to let the CO2 escape and the two were poisoned. The owner himself and another were affected by the gas but, survived.
