The Maremma region of Tuscany is very close to the Mediterranean sea and the wines here are fabulous blends of grapes not able to be used in other parts of Tuscany. I recently had the
La Mozza "Aragone" 2005 a 40% Sangiovese, 25% Alicante, 25% Syrah, 10% Carignan blend. This rich, dark wine had tons of body and fruit that was completely satisfying. Definitely an intense wine that needs food to be fully appreciated. I only had one bottle but will need to contact Italian Wine Merchants in NYC for more. Oh.. and this is one of the wines served to the Pope when he was visiting earlier this year. Cost approx: $35
