Entry for August 11, 2008- Where The Wining Woman has been...
Sorry everyone! I really haven't disappeared. I have just been a bit out of cyberworld for a short time due to a family illness. But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I will be back on track within a week or so.
In the meantime, I have no exciting wine news or information to impart. Basically, I have been drinking lots of restaurant "house" wines and just keeping my mom happy as her drinking partner. We did, however, have the wonderful Sokol Blosser "Evolution" to celebrate my mom's birthday. A white wine made from 9 different grapes including: Muller-Thurgau, White Riesling, Semillon, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, Muscat Canelli, Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner. Phew! Now that's a blend! This has to be one of the most perfect food wines around. There's enough body and flavor to stand up to many dishes yet the blending of all those grapes keeps the flavors balanced and subtle so it doesn't overpower the food either. Just a wonderful wine that's really worth trying if you haven't yet. Cost approx: $16 (was $38 in the restaurant.)
Until the next time...
Cheers,
The Wining Woman
