Entry for July 17, 2008 - Rose' Repeat
I know I've written about Rose's before but, I have some new ones to add to the list. I actually might have written about the first one before. It is the Borsao 2007 Rose' from Spain. Made from Grenache, the wine is a light pinky color with distinctive strawberry fruitiness. It's a simple and very easy drinker that has nice acidity and balance. The best part of the wine is its price tag that is a mere $8 or so.. I plan to stock up on this one. Continuing with the Rose's , I just picked up a Chakana Malbec 2007 Rose from Mendoza, Argentina. I don't think I have had a Malbec Rose' before. The color is a bit darker in this wine and the fruits are more cherry like. It's another refreshing wine although I found this a bit less balanced than the Borsao. It left a tingling feeling on my tongue denoting good acidity but also had a drying effect that I suppose is due to the tannins. Then, my husband gave me a piece of Ritter Sport milk chocolate with hazelnuts and the taste went crazy! I started tasting raspberries and coconut and suddenly  it became a delicious dessert wine. How interesting to think that a wine like this would pair with milk chocolate! Go figure. Overall, again, this is a good wine with a good price tag. Cost approx: $14.00

Cheers,
