Entry for July 15, 2008- Perfect Pinot

I am envious of the Wine Goddess's  wine cellar but thankfully, we're really good friends.  The reason being she brought out a bottle of Sokol Blosser 2005 Pinot Noir- Willamette Valley, Oregon to share with her fellow Women for Winesense officers this past weekend and I was lucky to be part of that group. I have to admit that she and I can usually be on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to wine and our palates. But, this wine that she so excitedly raved about is really worth the accolades. Powerful, rich and delicious with the earthiness of many Pinots but completely balanced with the fruit. It finished long and smooth and was just a beautiful wine. This is what a Pinot should be and the reason Pinot became popular in the first place.  Approx cost: $35

Cheers,
