Entry for June 4, 2008- Chardonnay crazy

I have some exciting news. I'll be filming a tv pilot next week and yes, it's about wine. The show is called "Time to Wine" and I'll be showing you how you can best appreciate and feel more comfortable about wine.  I plan to make this a regular series so it will be great to hear from you and what you'd like to see.

Anyway,  while rehearsing for the pilot, I had to open some bottles to taste. (it's all work you know!) I opened the Haras Elegance Chardonnay 2004 - Maipo, Chile. I have had this wine before and found it to be pretty nice. The oak is present but not overwhelming and the fruit does make a good impression. It has nice body and weight and is quite drinkable on its own but definitely benefited from some food - We stopped for lunch and I had a salad with tuna fish.  It went quite nicely. The bottle was soon consumed and by the time dinner came around it was time for something else. I opened another Chardonnay. This time it was the Pezzi King Chardonay 2005 - Russian River Valley, CA. It's a full-bodied wine that seemed to get better in the glass as the fruit flavors opened up and some of the oak subsided. Again, this was a wine that worked better with food.  Cost for wines between $15-20.

Cheers,
