Entry for May 2, 2008- Amazing Aussie

Australian wines have become a rage. They are all over the place and most people are familiar with the very affordable, Yellowtail. Well, Australia does have some high end wines and just today, the latest vintage of their best known wine "Grange" went on sale for a whopping $516 ..U.S. Dollars! It is expected that the entire stock of around 9,000 cases would be gone by the end of the day. This is the 2003 vintage that the Penfolds winemaker says would definitely sell out (they sell a 5 year old vintage every May 1st.) The wine is mainly Shiraz with some Cabernet Sauvignon and is known for its excellent aging abilities. Collectors and drinkers alike snap up these bottles. The first bottle of Grange from 1951 sold for $52,000 Australian back in 2004.

Cheers,
