It was a weekend on the water! We were invited aboard the Norwegian Spirit cruise ship on Saturday for lunch. What a gorgeous day in New York City! Lots of sunshine, great temperatures and the river was stunning. We dined in the ship's lovely Windows restaurant watching the other ships sail by as we sipped on our
Arneri prosecco -( light and with some nice nuttiness to it. ) The next evening we were onboard the all glass boat, Bateaux for their special dinner cruise. This was a treat from our 2 friends who have been staying with us for the past 6 weeks. The boat travels down the Hudson River from Chelsea Piers, around the tip of Manhattan past the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges then turns around to head to the Statue of Liberty for an upclose look at her before heading back up to its pier. It's a 3 hour tour combined with some very good food and wine (if you want it.) We wanted it. Now, while the wine choices were ok, I was rather disappointed with the prices. But, what to do. You only live once. We chose the house bubbly, the
Francois Montand Blanc de Blancs. This was nice and toasty with a good amount of bubbles making it a really nice refreshing starting wine for all of us. Everyone wanted to move on to a red wine. To make it easy we chose a French
Pinot Noir ..an all purpose red. Unfortunately, I don't have any information about the wine other than to say we ended up ordering 2 more bottles of it so we must have enjoyed it. Actually, I do know that it was quite earthy with a soft finish and it was just divine with my eggplant and goat cheese appetizer. After that..hmm. I finished with a
Cockburn's Port to go with my pear and almond torte. It was a fun weekend to say the least.
